Improv 101 focuses on the 3 core principles of comedic improvisation: agreement, being active, and justification. We designed our classes to create an energetic and supportive environment for play. Whether you’ve never taken the stage before, you’re a seasoned improviser, or you’re simply looking to help yourself in your career and/or life, you’ll get a lot from this class.
Students must be 18 years of age or older.
Laurie is a long-time actor, improviser and improv team coach. She has been passionate about the art of improvisation since the 1900’s. She is an alum of Second City/Hollywood and IO West (Improv Olympic). She honed her improv skills in Los Angeles, CA in the early 2000’s during what was known as the Great Improv Explosion. She has studied and performed with some of the great masters of improv. In 2004, her all-girl improv team W.I.N.K took the mainstage at IO West by storm, performing to packed houses of peers and professionals. W.I.N.K. was invited to the 2004 Southern Improv Festival in New Orleans where they took the coveted "Best in Fest" award. From there W.I.N.K. was invited to participate in the Del Close Marathon (NYC) along with a host of other improv festivals all over the country (Dirty South, Portland, Chicago, etc.)
In 2011 she became a mom and naturally brought her improv skills to her parenting. After seeing how natural and successful using the improv skills as a mama was, she formed Improvised Parenting so she could help other parents navigate their parenting journey using the rules of improv. She currently teaches an ongoing improv class called Improv For Everyday Survival at Wunderbarn (East Greenville, PA) and Holistic Awakenings (Catasauqua, PA) and has coached improv team "Staycation."
