When is the Ice Rink at SteelStacks open?

The Ice Rink at SteelStacks is open daily from November 22 to January 5 as follows:

NOTE: The times listed are the start of the first session that day to the end of the last session that day.

How long are skating sessions? 

Each skate session lasts 60 minutes.

Is the Ice Rink at SteelStacks still open if it rains or snows or we experience excessively warm temperatures (40+ degree temperatures)?

We’ll make every attempt to have the rink open every day. In the case of persistent rain, a heavy snowstorm or warm temperatures, we may have a delayed opening or need to close the rink if conditions are unsafe. Please follow us on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram for updates on weather delays or closures.

In the event a skate session is cancelled due to weather or any other unforeseen circumstance, patrons will be offered the opportunity to switch their ticket to another skate session or receive a full refund. Patrons will be notified of these cancellations via e-mail and will have 48 hours to reply to switch their ticket to another session. All patrons who haven’t responded after 48 hours will be granted a refund.

Where do we park?

There are several parking lots on the SteelStacks campus and there is no charge to park in them. Please note that parking will be especially limited during weekends.

What size skates do you have available and what kind are they? 

Sizes range from Toddler 9 to Adult 13. We offer hockey skates only but guests are welcome to bring their own. Please note, however, that bringing your own skates will not lower your ticket price. 

What should we bring?

We suggest bringing multiple pairs of socks, or one pair of thick, warm socks. We also recommend wearing a pair of gloves or mittens while skating.  

We’ve got you covered if you forget with gloves, socks, and a few other items available for sale in the skate rental tent! Please note that these items are available for purchase with card only, no cash.

Here is a list of items you cannot bring with you to and/or on the rink: 

• Guns, knives, or weapons of any kind 
• Pepper spray/mace 
• Illicit drugs or drug paraphernalia 
• Selfie sticks 
• Wallet chains 
• Studded jewelry/belts/clothing 
• Oversized or spiked rings 
• Signs, laser pointers or beach balls 
• Drones 
• Masks, costumes, or disguises that conceal identity 
• Pets 

Please also note that food and beverage are NOT permitted on the rink surface, but they are permitted in the areas around the rink. 

How much does it cost to skate?

Admission cost automatically includes skate rental and a $1 fee. Prices vary by day. 

• 14 and older:     $18 – $21
• 13 and younger:  $15 – $18
• 13 and younger (Mondays): $7.50
• ArtsQuest Member:   $14 – $17
• Group Rate (15 or more)*:  $14 – $17

Admission is valid only during the skating session that it is purchased in.

*Groups of 15-25 are able to purchase tickets at the group rate online or by phone. Groups of 26 or more should fill out the quick form here to secure their tickets.

Groups that are looking to rent out the rink so that they are the only ones on it during their skate session need to fill out the quick form here to start the process.

Does the Ice Rink at SteelStacks offer any special discounts?

Yes, we offer the following discounts:

• Select Mondays (Nov. 25, Dec. 9, Dec. 16, Dec. 23): Kids skate for Half the Price! ($7.50 admission for kids 13 and younger).
• Select Tuesdays (Nov. 26, Dec. 3, Dec. 10, Dec. 17): Student Night – $2 off admission (in person with any student ID).

Do you offer discounts for large groups?

We offer a group rate of $14 to $17 per person for groups of 15 or more, dependent on day and inclusive of skate rental.  

Groups of 15-25 skaters can purchase their tickets at the group rate online or by phone.  

Groups of 26 or more need to fill out the form here to secure their tickets.

Can we rent the Ice Rink at SteelStacks for a private event? 

Yes! Please fill out the quick form here to start the process.

Do you have skate aids to help beginner skaters? 

The venue has Skate Aids available for $10. Skate Aids are available on a first come, first served basis; we do not accept reservations. We cannot accept cash for a Skate Aid; purchases of Skate Aids are card-only.

Is there a place to lock our items up while skating? 

Yes, there are lockers at the rink. Cost is $10 per locker and cannot be reserved with cash; a card must be used for payment. Lockers are first come, first served per skate session.

Can we bring our own food and beverages? 

No, but please know that food and beverage will be available in a space adjacent to the rink. There will be a full bar, along with coffee, hot chocolate, and assorted snacks, all for purchase. 

Note that food and beverage is not permitted on the rink surface but is permitted in the areas around the rink. 

Are tables available at the rink? 

Yes, there is a hospitality tent with tables! If you want to reserve tables, fill out the form here.

Can I host a birthday party at the rink?

Yes! We have food and beverage packages and can even book a skating character (think Elsa or Luke Skywalker.) To start the process, please fill out the form here.

Does the rink offer skate sharpening? 

Not at this time. 

Are we allowed to walk or take strollers, etc., onto the ice? 

No, only guests wearing skates are allowed on the ice. 

Are we allowed to have a wheelchair on the ice? 

Yes, but it must be guided by someone wearing skates. 

Does the Rink have a Lost and Found? 

For lost and found, please call 610.332.1300 or visit the rink during public skating hours. 

What do the Sensory-Friendly Skate Sessions entail? 

Sensory-Friendly Skate Sessions are at 5 p.m. on the following Mondays: Nov. 25, Dec. 8, Dec. 15 and Dec. 22.

During these sessions: 

• No music will be played. 
• All blinking lights, including on our Christmas decorations, will be turned off or made solid. 
• The video screen adjacent to the rink will have one static image on it throughout the entire session instead of rotating through a number of images. 
• Skate aids will be free to rent from the skate tent as long as supplies last. 

Please denote that the rink is outdoors, meaning that we will not be able to eliminate all potential triggers for those with sensory-friendly needs. If you have any questions about these sessions, please write to Sr. Director of Programming Ryan Hill at rhill@artsquest.org.  

Do we have to sign a waiver? 

Every individual will receive a wristband with the language below that serves as your acknowledgement of the terms within. Patrons cannot skate without a wristband. 

Waiver language reads as: 
Assumption of Risk and Release. I am aware that ice skating involves inherent risks, dangers and hazards which can result in serious personal injury or death. I hereby freely assume and accept any and all known and unknown risks of injury while skating at this ice rink and release owner, its management company, sponsors, their affiliates, subsidiaries, successors and assigns from any liability whatsoever for bodily injury or property damage resulting from any negligent acts and omissions in the design, operation, supervision and maintenance of the ice rink. By wearing this wristband, I am agreeing to be bound by its terms.
